CF 4.5 doesn't support Oracle's stored functions, I don't know about CF
5.0....

I only use stored procedures for inserts, updates and deletes. I call
functions in a select statement like: Select myFunction From dual; to test
passwords, access and similar things. And I just do selects to get record
sets.
The parameter data types you pass to stored procedures can be tricky but can
always be worked out.

Subject: CF 4.5.1 and Oracle stored procedures
We're using CF 4.5.1 SP1, Oracle 8.x.
On page 474 of his book "The ColdFusion 4.0 Web Application Construction
Kit" Ben Forta mentions two "important limitations" when using stored
procedures with Oracle and ColdFusion. At that time CF did not support
record sets returned by Oracle stored procedures nor did it support Oracle's
'stored functions'. Ben goes on to give work-arounds.
Do these limitations still exist with stored procedures when using Oracle
with ColdFusion, or are the CFPROCRESULT and CFSTOREDPROC tags now fully
functional? Is there a good resource that goes into detail about using CF
with Oracle stored procedures?
Thanks!
George
