I have believed for a long time that AOL bought out Netscape for the purpose of killing the browser. I personally believe that microsoft has AOL buy out the companies that MS can't touch cause it would cause too much controversy. think about it... they bought out netscape, (netscape vs. MSIE), mapquest - (mapquest vs. expedia), time Warner - well just taking the entertainment industry allows you to brainwash the general public.. oh yeah .. broadband access. Everything is being done systematically to kill competition. Before you know it .. AOL and Microsoft will merge.. oh wait that won't be allowed.. ok so the two of them will just buy out the world. Yeah everyone hated netscape even myself .. but it made for some competition.. no competition is a really bad thing... hmm .. microsoft could start charging a monthly subscription to use it's browser.. hmm they would be the only one .. nothing to stop them .. I can list on and on all the potentially negative things this could do to the intenet. For years I've been saying netscape was bought by aol to destroy the browser. I've said it to a lot of people before. Netscape as a media company .. that's horse-manure(took out the profanity). Netscape is a product company (servers, browsers, etc..). even with 11% of the market.. netscape could still regain it's position as a browser company if it wanted to. by now most people forget that netscape is even owned by aol-timewarner. It's all in the marketing. If the two companies were to battle it out.. it would be a constant battle that would only lead to browser improvements. It all pisses me off damnit. I read in the Industry Standard that in a few weeks AOL's contract with Microsoft expires in regards to licensing MSIE with the AOL browser. Now, at a time like this, the stockholders would ask AOL why it would want to renew the contract, when they now own Netscape--the number 2 browser, (and with AOL's support, easily number 1). The only way to stop it is to phase Netscape out completely. And whose gonna stop them? Marc Andressen now works at Loudcloud!!! what have I said that is not true? ... I'd like to know... I'm not anti Microsoft or anti AOL-Time Warner .. I just want the truth to be exposed and the internet to be a fair place. Seth Novosel The simple path in life isn't always the best way. the government is mentally challenged and gopher is out of date .. the world has been conquered by the corporation. will it end... when someone helps the mentally challenged.. hmm that won't happen cause there isn't someone willing.
