Macs generally have a problem with this, when uploading images through a
browser they mash up the resource fork and data fork of the file, resulting
in a corrupted GIF or JPG.

You can download the utility to clear the resource fork of the file before
uploading it.. that should fix it.. there's also a setting in the
preferences it recommends having a look at.
