coming in on the end of this thread here, but it is possible to run PWS on
Win ME (after spending over 8 hours researching and installing the thing!)
The best scenario for this is to have CF and PWS on win 98 and "upgrade" to
ME - which then seems to run OK - if you have to start from scratch then
there are a couple of updates to the PWS install you have to get to make it
run OK - with the correct procedure it will take you a good 1 to 2 hours to
install it properly!  The best "get-around" is to install the other services
first ONLY, then re-boot and install the PWS server, ect, THEN reboot and
install CF server.

Alternately - depending on whether you want to run ASP and CFM or not - use
apache - which is v. stable on ME.

Funny, I used to think too that PWS and Windows ME were incompatible, and 
it might have been from this list that I got that impression.  Then I 
bought a used laptop (ThinkPad 560X) with both installed and working fine 
together.  I added CF and it runs great too.  Maybe there's some special 
trick to it.
