Actually, not necessarily.  It depends upon browser settings.  A person 
can set up an executable or zip to automatically execute/open just like an 
mp3 file.  (Not that I'd recommend setting up your system like that).  Your 
best bet is providing a link directly to the MP3 file and let your friends 
figure it out.
  If the MP3s are your own music, go somewhere like mp3.com and let them 
worry about getting them to your friends.
