Was your the one with the red LED display that you couldn't read outside in
the sun?  One of our math teachers was the first on campus with one, wore it
on his belt in place of the really high-speed slide rule he used to use
(yes, I used a slide rule in high school).  He gave me his and I still have
that - and can still use it.  

Lent my calculator to a prof while in grad school but didn't get it back in
time for an exam that day, but pulled out my slide rule (carried it to show
the 16 year olds in a couple of my classes) and used it.  My prof gave me
extra time, of course.  Got my usual almost an A, too.
