In some cases if you're going from one server to another one on the same
internal network you will have to use the *internal* IP address of the
destination server instead of the domain name.  Check with your network
administrator.

Another thought (if it's not the above case) might be that the destination
server is peeking at the http headers and filtering, or the site is in some
kind of frames in use that are messing things up.
