Billy, you hit a great point. In my opinion you just encapsulated the
confusion regarding Spectra. I worked for Allaire-Macromedia as a
consultant and there were many levels of confusion about what Spectra
actually was or was meant to do. At both Partner and User level. It is a
great product and in comparison to anything else is very cost-effective but
the message just somehow got lost.

It strikes me as an attempt to combine an app server and a CMS.
However, I don't care for its CMS implementation. I've always
considered CMS as having pre-built modules (security, editing, etc)
where you merely define the properties and rules, without having to
code. The platform it sits on controls the details of implementation.
Think of it like this: is it a Content Management System or a Content
Management Platform?
Maybe it's just a conspiracy to keep Spectra, Zope, etc consultants'
rates high. :)

No. It features role based security, online editing, lots of stuff.
I looked at a year ago before we choose coldfusion, and it was a bit
immature.
