date field for each entry to determine if it's a new item. Something

the data is. If it is new the have it formatted differently.
Which are both good ideas, in fact we are doing the "New" icon. However, the
big cheese wants the text _within_ the content that has changed to be
displayed differently. His logic "we may have a five-page section in which
only two sentences have changed. People would not want to have to read the
whole thing again to try and discern the changes" I follow the logic, but it
looks like I would have to compare the original content to the updated
content and apply styling... all _before_ sending to the DB.... Starting to
look like the admin will be handling this manually...;)
