Yes, but outside the USA that's not how it's seen. Of course any URL can be
accessed by any browser anywhere, but for marketing purposes it's different.
My own domain is a .COM domain, but I often get people here in Australia
complaining because they can't send to me. They keep adding .au to my
address because most Australian companies have .au domains. Similar
situations exist with .co.nz or .co.uk or whatever. A lot of people
believe that if you have a .com address then you're an American company.
Believe it or not, being seen as an American company isn't always an asset.
I have a problem with my company AFPWebworks, because the Agents France
Presse and the Australian Financial Press have taken most of the variations
of AFP domains in Australia and the Australian Federal Police have the rest.
I'd like to have a .com.au domain name and I hope I will one day but in the
mean time I have to keep on persuading people that my company is indeed
Australian based, Australian owned, and Australian operated, where if I had
a .com.au domain it would be taken for granted.
So the global or otherwise relevance of .biz domains is an issue.
Cheers,

com is supposed to be global. Isn't it?
