It is entirely possible you are getting zero length messages
stuck in your outbound queue. This will cause coldfusion to
go nuts. I believe this problem was fixed up in ColdFusion 5.

The next time this happens check in your cfusion/mail/spool
directory and examine the messages. See if there are any
zero length messages in the spool.
