I've recently done an extensive customization of an AbleCommerce site and I
didn't find this to be the case at all. I've been writing code a long
time, and I'm very hard to please but I thought the code was very well done.

Again, I have to disagree with you. I found their support staff to be
excellent, and if you want a database diagram, making one in Access or SQL
isn't that big a deal.

I would recommend it as a good middle size, customizable product.
And I have no affiliation with AbleCommerce, financial or otherwise. I
just hate to see a good product get slammed.
