First step is install so they can do it with the disk or you can do it by
FTP or PCANywhere. The cheapest and probably the best unless you have
unlimited resources as far as memory and cpu is have them install terminal
services on the IIS server. Tell them to create a FTP account somewhere on
the drive. FTP the CF files up. I can send you a copy of the Terminal
Services client for free. Then use terminal services to access the server
and install like you normally would. That will start you I am creating you
some screen shots and a copy of the terminal services client I will email
that to you directly. Give me about 2 hours I have a meeting I have to go to
in about 20 minutes.

Subject: RE: Installing/Administering CF from a remote computer

Steve

TIA for the help!

This is a potential client who is buying a CF App and needs to
install CF to run it.

The client runs IIS 5 and win98... elsewhere on the intranet are
Oracle, Access etc.

I have never installed/administered IIS (tried once & got lost in all
the pre & co-requsite fixes).

So, I don't have a lot of experience with installing/administering
either CF or IIS.

However, I am not afraid to experiment or buy/read books manuals,
etc. I do have trouble finding anything on MS sites... I don't know
what to look for...

If you could get me started in the right direction, I will greatly
appreciate it.

1) What does the client have to do to give me access to the system(s)
(win, IIS) so that I can do the CF install?

2) where do I go from there?

Dick
