Is your network connected to the internet with a leased line?

If so, what's your default gateway set to in IP protocol properties? If you
know the IP of your router/gateway, make sure they match.

Once that's done you shouldn't need a proxy for anything.

Nope. Ping doesn't seem to work (I'm on a workstation inside the network),
but then again I don't think I could ping from it before installing XP.
