The trouble with query analyser is you can't see what is set up. If
something doesn't work, you cant see what the table names are and what th
e
field names and descriptions are. You're working in the dark all the tim
e
You can't set up users, permissions, views, only pass SQL queries.

But I don't own SQL2000. That's owned by my new hosting company. I o
wn
SQL7 myself. So how do I get hold of the wherewithall to work with SQL20
00
without having to use that rotten Access, which isn't compatible with SQL.
It's different. (The trouble with using Access is that you have to kee
p
remembering that a Text field = a Memo field and a Varchar field = a
text
field. And when you upload from a access database, you get a nvarvhar
field in SQL so then without knowing for sure what fields you have on the
SQL, you have to change all the nvarchars to varchars or ColdFusion barfs
the first time you do a query. And the Access SQL isn't identical to th
e
SQLServer syntax.

Anyone able to shed some light here?

You should be able to do all your work with query analyzer. EM is nice an
d
easy, but you should be able to enter all SQL/TSQL you need ... and the 2
000
variant of QA has a nice view objects function.

Cheers,
Bill
