Paul, Once you have MS SQL Server 2000 installed the transferring of your old Acess 97 tables should go fairly easily. There is a nice wizard in SQL Server for DTS (data transformation services) that can step you through importing you Access data.
The one thing to be very aware of is that SQL Server has many more data types than Access, so when you import you need to make sure the proper data types are used.
