I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "remote", but in any case, if you can
reach the database from the app server via TCP/IP, then the answer is yes.

You'll simply set up the connection the way you would any other Sybase
connection. Unfortunately, it's been a while since I've done this, so I
don't remember the exact details. I'll be looking at a Sybase install
tomorrow, though, so I could find out pretty easily then.

If you're trying to do this over a larger network, like the public Internet,
from a security perspective this is a bad thing. You don't want to expose
databases on the public Internet.
