It's bug 17708, specifically related to using cfinsert/cfupdate with TEXT fields in a mySQL database. It cuts off the data after 10 characters.
If you're using the Merant mySQL driver, you could try using the myODBC driver instead http://www.mysql.com/Downloads/MyODBC If that doesn't help, you'll probably need to get it working with CFQUERY.
