Ever since coming over to an ORACLE/Solaris envirionment I have had a problem taking char(x) field and having it return with the right length. No matter what length char field I use I get a length of 255 returned when called from a pl/sql procedure. If the variable is not trimmed twice trim(trim(#var#)) it will not go back into the database. This has been the situation since version 4 of cfserver and version 7.3 of ORACLE we are now on CF 5 and ORACLE 8i. Still the same problems.
Anyone else experience this?
