Hey -- speaking of this, does anyone have a good way to handle bounceback
emails?
Obviously, this is something of a complex thing to put together, given the
sheer variety of email servers and responses. Really, I'm looking for
something that'll catch 90% of the bounces and automatically unsubscribe
people, but not mess with people who respond the email newsletter address.
I built something myself... but it is slower than molasses. (It does work,
though, if anyone wants the code.) Anyone have something that works well?

Kris,
I may build it myself - and I already have some specific needs that will
require customization anyway - as is often the case when you are trying to
"upgrade" an existing product. The client has multiple lists with multiple
criteria, for multiple producst - and they want to sort of unify the whole
thing - I'm on a search to find something sufficiently flexible to serve as
a starting point.

I think there is a free one at cfm-resources.com. I checked it out when I
was building one for a member based site I have. Its ok, why not just build
it yourself??

Does it have to be free? To say Howie the marketing effort, I've heard
nothing but great things about inFusion Mail Server at www.coolfusion.com.
Have a look at it. There's a 60-day eval version too if you want to take a
test spin with it.
Hope this helps,
Dave.
