You can personalize the messages and if you have profiles you will be able to use direct marketing.
We have a journalist community that was a Yahoo group. I built a website in CF and now run the news letters through it. http://www.blueear.com We have profiles for each member and the news letters are addressed to each. >From there profiles we can tell if they are into sports or computers. Then the advertisers we sell for the newsletter are directed to a mermbers profile.
