I would imagine that the hard limit depends on the file system that the DB sits on - 2 GB for FAT, etc...
Practically, it's a very bad idea to have an Access DB anywhere near this size. We have a number of databases that are in the several hundred megabyte range - it's not something I like or would recommend. They are a PAIN to maintain and fix.
