I had a client who ran into a similar situation. I bought and installed an email
application from Infranet called cf_iiMail. It worked great and the client was very
pleased. I think that the cost was under $200.00 at the time. You can find out more

Hi All,
I have a customer who is running into page timeout errors while using the
cfmail tag. The mailing list query contains about 5,000 records in it so
we're looping through the cfmail tag that many times. I know I can set the
requesttimeout attribute in the url but I'm looking for a more robust
solution
that's preferably ColdFusion based. I seem to remember someone wrote
a custom tag based in java that handled several thousand email addresses
without a problem. Can anyone point me to some custom tags or modules
that have been fairly reliable at least up to 10,000 emails?
