As Tim mentioned, you don't need LDAP or Advanced Security at all if you just use Basic Security, which will let you use one password for RDS access - all RDS users would have the same rights and use the same password. If you do want to implement Advanced Security, and you're running on Solaris 8, you may have an LDAP server without knowing it. Solaris 8 comes with the iPlanet LDAP server, if I recall correctly. LDAP is more commonly used on Unix than on Windows. It can be very painful to set up Advanced Security, though, so if you don't need it, you're better off not using it.
