Could also be that the webserver can't locate or connect to mailserver. I got that error on a client's server last week; turned out the webserver couldn't ping the domain name of the mailserver, but could get to the IP. must've been a DNS problem. I changed the CFMAIL tag to use the IP address of the smtp server instead of DNS name, and worked. (was on CF5, Win2K)
