If you're in ColdFusion MX, then UPS and FedEx apparently offer tracking as
a web service. There's an extensive catalog of current services here...
just do a text search on "ups" to pull it up:

I haven't worked through that particular service, but is this similar to
the type of thing you're looking for...?

When I Google on "coldfusion ups tracking" I pull up various calculators,
and carts which assign numbers... hey, cool, I see Seva Petrov has also
made an implementation available on the Macromedia Exchange, as the
CF_GetUPS extension.
