I have been (to DevCon) the past two years. I would recommend staying in the host hotel. It makes it very easy to go up to your room anytime, and allows you to see cool people in the lobby like Jeremy and Ben. As far as I know, the Fusebox conference will be in the same hotel this year and yes right now the plan is to have it the two days before DevCon.
