Bruce Eckel's "Thinking in ..." series is really good for learning about object-oriented programming, I think, but not as good as a primer in a specific language for learning that specific language, if you already know about OO concepts. I'd recommend that you definitely take a look at it - I bought the Java one after reading some of the PDF, and he's got "Thinking in Python" as well, which I think is actually even better, and is also available in PDF.
