Yep. I read the 4.5 study guide, but I was in the certification beta program and got certified back before any study references were available, either in print or online. I just read the 4.5 guide to look for pointers and that sort of thing. Don't misunderstand, I wasn't suggesting that the books weren't useful. I was just saying that, to me, there's more to being a reputable certified developer than reading an exam study guide. >I prefer the study guides to most of the other books I've read. As for the >exam, I'd rather have one than not. Whether they amount to anything is up >to >employers. That's a fair statement, and one with which I have no issue. Out of curiosity, have you met many employers who do hold stock in it? I know you said you weren't certified yet, but I'm just wondering if you've come across it. Personally, when I was looking for jobs, none of the people I interviewed with (both IT and/or HR people) held much stock in it. They were more interested in what I had done with it in the real world. On the other hand, owning stock in anything nowadays in a dicey proposition! It might just have been personal experience. I'd be interested in hearing yours. Good luck with the certification!
