I tried using the built in ODBC driver for FileMaker so CF could read the data, but the driver that comes with FM is really slow (this could also have been because of the design of this particular FileMaker db), the other odd thing that it took me a while to work out was that the FileMaker db needs to be open on the FM server for the ODBC connection to work - not very useful if you need to connect to a number of FM dbs.
In the end we gave up and imported all the data to SQL Server.
