Okay ... so ... the latest news is this: I've redesigned the chat room to take advantage of the new flashVars parameter in Flash MX which allows up to 64kb of data to be transferred to the movie on load without any javascript ( yea! ). I had hoped that this would circumvent whatever problem we'd been having with Mozilla / Netscape users not being able to enter the chat room ... Apparently this is not the case, as I've now tried with 0.9.3 and 1.0 of Mozilla and 6.2 of Netscape. In all three cases I've fresh-installed the browser, and fresh-installed the Flash 6 player and have not been able to enter the chat room. None the less, the new talkontap.swf and coldfusion modules are now running the demo site at
http://www.turnkey.to/talkontap If anyone has any luck getting into the chat room with Netscape or Mozilla, please let me know! :) Other than that, unless someone on the list has an epiphany they can share with me, my hands are tied. There's no javascript being used, so the only other thing I can think is that the browser just doesn't like the active-x control for Flash 6 ... I hear tell that other Flash 6 movies play fine, but have no clue as to why this one wouldn't. The latest revision to the chat room is still an improvement, although I dislike the fact that the flashVars don't seem to be scoped ( or at least, none of the documentation I've seen has said anything about them being scoped ) within the ActionScript... but they work and there's nothing I can do to change the medium. All forms of feedback gratefully accepted. :) Hope everyone enjoys the chat! :) Isaac Dealey new epoch www.turnkey.to 954-776-0046 ______________________________________________________________________ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox.
