The sniffer at http://www.bayes.co.uk/xml/index.xml is the one I like. It
detected my 4.0 sniffer, although it didn't detect the other, lower
versions. the one at http://www.vbxml.com/parsers/sniffer/ didn't detect my
4.0 sniffer but did detect my lower versions. So I assume I have both :)

In either case, try the bayes sniffer first.

the xml cf tags primarily offer ease of use; once you start learning the
DOM, though, parsing xml is pretty simple stuff.

some of the CF custom tag parsers claim ultra speeds and claim better
stability than the MS parser w/CFOBJECT. This may be the case, although I
haven't had troubles. But I don't have heavy user loads on my xml-parsing
pages, either, so I can't speak to this.

If you do have trouble with Microsoft's parser, you could try a java-based
parser, too, although you'd still be instantiating it with cfobject or
createobject(), and cfobject seems to be the source of many stability
issues, so I don't know what the differences would be with using a
java-based parser vs. the MS parser.

Can some one tell how to check which version of the MSXML we have
on our server.

We are using SOXML for some pretty basic stuff and we are about to
use some of the toolbox tags.

I have seen some CFX tags out there that will convert the XML doc
to CF querys or structures. These range from $90 to $1000.00 what
do they offer that is better than using the MSXML and Cf object?

Thanks

Gordon
