This doesn't seem to be possible. Debian doesn't provide mips64 packages for big-endian[!] mips. I apologize for the distraction. On related note, they seem to have removed big-endian mips from their dist mirrors altogether, one has to pull them from archive.debian.org.

Not sure if it will work and support your test case, but you could try adding a (partial) mips64el userland and build for that target instead.

No, this won't work. "el" stands for "endian little" and it's a no-go on big-endian system such as the one in question.
