I guess it depends on what the robots are doing .. i have one site where a robot would come and put a heap of html in every field. Not sure why and i dont really care. .i just changed the form to say "no html allowed" so humans could read it, then changed the action validatoin to just drop the form if there were more than one "<" in the contents.
(I left the one in case someone actually wanted to type 'less than" for any reason)
My problem went away then.
If other kinds of robots were adding other things i might have taken a different approach, like using a Captcha technique. but i didnt want to make it more difficult for users to fill out the form unless it was absolutely necessary.
