Here's a simple test to show which format is the better of the two.

Go and get yourself a cheap generic hardware device.
Unwrap it, plug it in, see if it work first go. Use supplied drivers if
required.

How does your platform of choice stack up to this challenge?

Now if only we had a small device... maybe a usb device... something
that lots of people on this list would have, so our sample sizes were
nice and large... something nice and new, so we'd be certain that
they'd work.  Any suggestions?  ;-)
