Hi Ryan,

Pam had to check some details with our distributor this morning,
here's some answers for you:

> There are 2 ways to purchase CF7 "Box Product", and "Volume License".

Yes:

Box Product:
The glossy cardboard and CD we know and love.

Volume:
You are eligible for volume license with just one purchase of any
product (the entry level for Transactional License Program (TLP) is
just 1 point). The program is transactional, so the more you
purchase at a time the more opportunity you have to move into a
higher level for that sale.

Licenses are delivered vie electronic software download. We email
the license and send a link for download.

> Box Product sells for $1970 inc gst from the Adobe store

You had $1970 from the Adobe Store (Maybe that was a US price - but I
also understand there was some sort of stuff up in the store pricing
during the merger). We sell it inc of GST and margin for $2190.50,
Australian RRP is $2608.

Compare this with the TLP license price: we sell 1 CF7 standard inc
of GST and margin for $2079.16, Australian RRP is $2475.18

> Box Product includes CDs and manuals

The manual for ColdFusion 7 is on part of the CD (no physical manual)
inside the box.

> Box Product is NOT eligible for a maintenence plan

Adobe do not sell box maintenance. Macromedia had stopped selling
box maintenance also a few months prior to the merger.

> Volume License cost depends on how many Adobe products you already

No.

Unlike the old Macromedia MVLP program the TLP program is
transactional, so the more you purchase at a time the more
opportunity you have to move into a higher level for that sale. You
are eligible for volume license with just one purchase of any product
(as the entry level for Transactional License Program (TLP) is just 1
point).

Note also that a few large organisations (Suncorp, ABC etc) are in a
different contract based program called CLP, which is not transactional.

To purchase the media for an ESD (Electronic software delivery - i.e.
license) purchase of CF7 $40.00 (RRP $47.61)
To purchase media that is NOT for ESD purchase $145.95

> Volume License does not include the manuals, this costs an extra
> $245.13

If you want to purchase the manual it is $205.92 and of course the
same manuals can be downloaded from http://www.macromedia.com/support/
documentation/en/coldfusion/ for free

> 2yr Maintenence costs $1050

To purchase 2 year maintenance $883.70

The prices did increase slightly, but the TLP program goes a long way
towards making up for it.

NEVER buy boxed product - with TLP starting at 1 point every purchase
you make can be under TLP. Buy a box of CF Standard and you've
essentially paid $111 for some cardboard and a CD. Print your own
paper manuals. Try to batch up your purchases where possible - it is
quite easy to get into deeper TLP discount levels, especially if
you're buying Enterprise or some tools.

Hope that helps everyone.

Robin
