Also check the "prefetch" folder if using a WinXP or derivative server as this can at least increase file load over time.

Find it under WINDOWS\prefetch

Flush this folder with reboots (or turn it off/allow only boot file pre-fetching).

Also ensure your system is fully patched - that includes your database servers (especially if on the same box).
