That is an interesting question, and although I am not sure as to the answer
I can however say that in CF you can't and I would say that this would be
true for SP's as well. But they nay be treated differently outside of the
SP. So you might give it a try and see, with a quick test and see how you
go.

And I would be interested to know the answer too, as I am looking at moving
a lot of db logic that really doesn't need to be in CF, so it would be good
to know the answer.
