Thats what I would have thought. But this system we are using (that we didn't build) doesn't seem to correctly import UTF-8.
Anyway I found a solution. A piece of software called HTML Tidy can batch process files and convert all weirdo characters into HTML entities. This way things will store and handle correctly. There are a lot of accented characters in it and they are not getting imported into a CMS that we are using. Is there a tool that will automatically convert all special characters in an HTML document into their relevant HTML entity? thanks.
