So I can write cf applications and have it run on a j2ee server rather than a cf server.
Is this also more cost efficient for the client to purchase a j2ee server rather than cf Clearly I need to investigate this and learn all about it Any suggested resources to learn the most about how all this side of things works being able to deploy application as you have indicated Kind Regards Claude Raiola B.Econ(Acc.); B.Hotel Mngt. ColdFusion compiles the code to Java as either an EAR or WAR file which can then be deployed on a J2EE server (like JRun 4 which CF ships with). This compiled code is, to my knowledge, not backward compilable. Just ensure you keep your source code safe. It is surprisingly easy to do - the DEV edition of ColdFusion (6.x and above) allow you to do this for you to try. However, downside, I think you need the Enterprise level of CF (ie - not Standard/Pro) to deploy a J2EE CF application.
