(Followups to watercooler?) Ranting, so I'll emphasise key points for skimming pleasure. What I don't understand is, past windows releases have been approached with caution. In my experience anyway. Home users seemed slowish to upgrade. Even OEMs weren't busting their guts offering 2k... you had a choice of 9x or 2k around the time it came out. Same with XP... Most people approached it with caution, as XP didn't really offer much over 2000. Come Vista, and caution seems to be thrown into the wind? What's new? Apart from DX10 and Aero (Even if I ran windows, I wouldn't be able to justify a high end machine to play games on)? And the Secret Service Agent? (I ran windows naked for about 5 years, and never hand virus probs... Granted, I was behind a firewall, and didn't open fluffy attachments, MomNPop's mileage will vary, but I digress). I personally didn't upgrade to 2k/XP until they had been out for a while, and 1) I could afford (read: 'hassle parents', see below) a machine that ran it without breaking a sweat, and 2) Software developers had gotten good enough that I didn't need to boot back to windows 98 to run my games. (I was in my teens those days) Haven't we all learned that early adopters suffer for their, umm, art, so to speak? What does Vista offer over XP (or Mac OS :p) that you _must_ _have_ noworiwillsuffocate? People whinging waah waah, doesn't work with Vista... well... I can't help but wonder, "And whose idea was it to run Vista"? (Not that I really care, as I'm hanging out for leopard :D Will be upgrading the G4 powerbook once that comes out. ) <cfgroupie> wrote: http://www.itnews.com.au/newsstory.aspx?CIaNID=47990I just got one thing to say...
