I know that, but they were private releases, ie needed to be in the beta
program, couldn't just download like you can now.

That's the way I remembered it, but I could be wrong. But if i'm right CF8
has gone through a lot of private beta testing already.

There was from memory 2 maybe 3 release candidates before CFMX 7 was
released officially, over a period of 6 months.

Adobe does have a different release strategy...

My memory was that it never got a public beta.

But was released very quickly after the private beta.

I blogged 1st July, but worst case 8th August.

PS: Robin's comment of being a safe bet that something will be released in
two years. I don't agree, Coldfusion 7 was released in Feburary 2005 which
is more than two years ago, so if you purchased a subscription with it, you
wasted your money unless you purchased it 4 months or more after its
release.
