Did you say Milking or Killing I'm a bit dyslexic. PS: Don't buy CF out of Australia unless you want to pay through the nose, the US$ is 90cents odd.
Standard $1,299 USD $2,105 AUD Enterprise $7,499 USD $12,169 AUD The upgrades are just as bad, don't let Adobe rip off Australians, seriously it would be less expensive to fly to the US and purchase a copy from a store. No doubt this will be a heated thread but it has to be said, and I am sure we will all agree that we hope the powers at Adobe are watching. Now that CF8 has hit the Adobe site, we no longer have to wait for a release date, or do we? As many of you have no doubt seen, the pricing of the newly released Coldfusion 8 product is a little bit inflated. As well as that, the price difference between the boxed and download products is ridiculous. $500 difference between the 2 of them. Lets have a look at the pricing Product Price Box Price D/L DIFF ---------------------------------------------------------------- == Coldfusion 8 == CF 6.x or MX7 STD UG to CF8 ENT $9,489 $8,629 $860 CF 6.x or MX7 ENT UG to CF8 ENT $6,085 $5,535 $550 CF 6.x or MX7 STD UG to CF8 STD $1,055 $ 955 $100 == Coldfusion 7 == CF 6.x STD UG to CF7 ENT $6,009 $5,465 $544 CF 6.x ENT UG to CF7 ENT $3,129 $2,845 $284 CF 6.x STD UG to CF7 STD $ 679 $ 615 $ 64 For the enterprise licensing there is over a 50% price increase between this release and the previous release and a little less than that for the standard product. Also, whats the deal with the price different between the boxed and download between the upgrade paths? They cant be indicating that depending on the product that the boxes will be different and contain different stuff in them aside from the serial number being different can they? Even if they seriously thought we would swallow that, how is it that the enterprise upgrades are different, by $300! If you are talking about price increases as a result of things like the server monitoring, why not sell them as an addon, much like the graphing components for Flex? I am sure they can lock out functionality much like they do between the standard and enterprise products. Personally I get the feeling that Adobe is just milking this release.
