Barry, Vista Crome and User Account stuff can all be turned off.
I have UAC and Aero both off and it runs fine. For all you vista users, can the over-the-top Vista "chrome" be turned off so it's just a plane-jane O/S? The first thing I do with a WinXP install it to turn it into Windows "Classic".
