What is the best approach for redundancy in the event that the hosting
server falls over are mirrored solutions a viable option and are they widely
used.

The issue being in the unlikely event of the server going down at the data
centre I would like to and alternative location set up as the additional
name servers so that the domain name resolves to the alternative server in
the event the main one cannot be reached.

Are mirrored web servers a common solution these days so that in the event
of a problem at one location there is little if any down time of the site
and the data on the secondary site is as currently as it was on the primary
site that has fallen over for what ever reason
