Hi to all Melbourne Adobe Developers! Sorry for the late advice, but I'm afraid we won't be having a meeting this month.
Subsequent to the last CFUG, we've been busy re-shaping the usergroups for Melbourne developers who use Adobe tooling and technologies. Given attendances for both CFUG and MFUG meetings, we've decided to amalgamate the two groups. The new group will be called MAD, Melbourne Adobe Developers. The primary focus will be, of course, ColdFusion and Flex, but we're open to any topic of concern to web developers using the Adobe stack, including pure ActionScript, Javascript, CSS, etc, as well as more general topics like OOP, testing, version control and so on. We'll also be changing the format, with meetings having two presentations of between 20 and 30 minutes each. The format will be: - 6:30 - 7:00 PM General chat while people arrive. - 7:00 - 7:30 PM First presentation - 7:30 - 8:00 PM Pizza & discussion - 8:30 - 9:00 PM Second presentation - 9:00 - 9:10 PM Closing comments, general announcements, etc. - 9:10 - ?? Informal chat for those wishing to stay on. We'll be encouraging presenters to focus on demonstrations of what can be done with, and how to approach, the various tools and technologies available, rather than deep-diving into the detail. This is of course a general guideline and there will no doubt be cases where the detailed drill on a specific topic will be warranted. The Manager of the new group will be Steve Onnis. The Co-manager will be Peter Robertson. Dale Fraser has generously offered to continue to make CogState's boardroom available and to help out generally. We will be announcing events and general business on CFAussie and http://mad.groups.adobe.com. Please let us know your thoughts on what is proposed here and let us have any questions. We'll be running the new group in the CFUG slot of third Thursday of each month, so our next meeting will be Thursday 21 April.
