Have you compared the JRun parameters (in jvm.config in the JRun bin folder) to see what the differences are between CF8 and CF6? CF8 may start JRun with 350MB allocated already (but may not have actually filled that 350MB allocated). I would say 350 - 400MB on idle is normal for JRun on CF8. I can't say much about CF 6 because I've never used it. 60MB on full throttle? sounds a bit odd, are you sure you don't mean 600MB?
