Late I know, but for a good Flash MX book try Flash MX Unleashed by Matthew Pizzi, David Vogleer II, Todd Coulson et al, released by SAMS. It is one of the few Flash books that goes into detail on database connectivity with examplees for CF, ASP and PHP.
