The form will only pass checkboxes that have been checked anyway, so if they check the green and blue boxes, you will only get green and blue.
 
If you want, you could name the checkboxes "colour" and set the values of the checkboxes as the colors.  This way you will get a list of colours passed by your form.

Quick question. I have a form with multiple check boxes i.e. tick here to turn on...i.e.
 
Description       
red                    x
blue                   
green                x
 
When they submit the form I only what the variables that the user has ticked to be
passed to the database.
 
What would be the best way to do this? You know wot i mean?
