Just a thought Geoff but while all the posts are currently available online they are behind forms and so they are invisible to any sort of spider. This makes it kind of hard to find unless you know exactly where to look (I had been using CF for a couple of years before I knew the list existed).
Yep. This is an issue.
Personally I think the value of this list as an information resource for the wider MM community could be increased by making the posts more freely available. I think fullasagoog is a fantastic example of openly available & useful info. Also webmasterworld.com, the w3c lists and some other CF lists I can't think of right now are good examples.
Couldn't agree more.. (glad you like the Goog!)
This is the current set-up. You can access the list freely -- but only members can post. You can search via the web-interface (but this is not great agreed), you can search via NNTP if you use a news reader.I guess I am thinking of freely available viewing, but having to sign up to post.
Is this feasible with the list software you are using? Are the bandwidth implications reasonable? Is there someway to hide people email addresses in this type of set up?
Not unless I upgrade -- am feeling a bit of cheapskate at the moment.
Too late :) You can already get access to the archive of CFAUSSIE from the beginning of the year at:Everyone else: How would you feel about your posts being *more* public?
